Robin Marty visits an abortion clinic in Louisville for POLITICO Magazine. This month, the Supreme Court will decide the McCullen v. Coakley case and the constitutionality of buffer zones around abortion clinics. Kentucky is one of about 40 states without a statewide law creating a buffer zone—a designated area where protestors are not allowed—around clinics. “What’s happening in front EMW Women’s Surgical Center represents perhaps the worst harassment of abortion providers across the country,” Marty writes, noting that “public sidewalks become a fearsome gauntlet—crowded with crosses, pictures of the Virgin Mary, signs about murder or Jesus’s love and the massive graphic images becoming more commonplace every day.”
