The Sexual Assault Case that Haunts Claire McCaskill
Olivia Nuzzi writes in The Daily Beast that, from winning re-election against Todd Akin and his “legitimate rape” comments to prosecuting sexual assault cases early in her career, “the Senator from Missouri’s career has been defined, again and again, by sexual assault.” McCaskill is often reminded of one of her first cases, which she lost. “I felt so personally responsible,” she tells Nuzzi. “That’s why I have this job,” McCaskill says. “…I care a lot about this problem.”
