Bobby Jindal: Parents Were “Very, Very Concerned” by Conversion to Christianity

Following Bobby Jindal’s commencement speech at Liberty University last weekend, Tom Hamburger of The Washington Post interviewed the Louisiana governor. Jindal explained his conversion from Hinduism to Catholicism: “I got baptized in Providence (without family present) out of respect for my parents. I didn’t want to cause them any more heartache than I had already caused. It wasn’t easy. I can talk about it now that they have accepted it and we are very close.” Jindal is also a fan of Pope Francis, who he says “brings a great charisma and energy.”
