Developer Scales Back Plans for Muslim Center near Ground Zero

The New York Times reports on plans for a museum dedicated to Islam in replacement of the failed Muslim community center proposal near the World Trade Center. The museum’s developer, Sharif El-Gamal, said the museum would be “dedicated to exploring the faith of Islam and its arts and culture.” His spokesperson, Hank Sheinkopf, said, “This is a more tailored approach, both physically and programmatically. It will prove to be an important addition to the neighborhood and to New York City’s arts and cultural community.”
