Mississippi’s Lone Abortion Clinic Fights To Remain Open

Debbie Elliot of NPR reports that Mississippi’s final abortion clinic is fighting to stay open after tightening restrictions forced others to close. The Jackson Women’s Health Organization is challenging the state law that requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a hospital in the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in a final attempt to remain open. “We’re hoping and we’re praying this thing closes,” said Pastor David Lane of Pro-Life Mississippi. “Mississippi will be first in something that’s good anyway, and that is no free-standing abortion mills. That’s what we’re after.”
