High Court with Vocally Devout Justices Set To Hear Religious Objections to Health-Care Law

The Washington Post’s Robert Barnes discusses how the justices’ outspoken faith may affect the Supreme Court’s decision as it weighs legal obligation against religious beliefs in a challenge from Hobby Lobby to Obamacare. Justice Thomas is a former seminarian while Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito both faced questions on their faith during their confirmation hearings. However, when Justice Thomas was asked about the religious composition of the court two years ago, he responded, “We’re all from the Ivy League. That seems to be more relevant than what faith we are.”
