Taxpayers Fund Creationism in the Classroom

Stephanie Simon of POLITICO reports that taxpayers in 14 states this year will help pay for hundreds of religious schools that teach that the Earth is less than 10,000 years old. While years of legal litigation have established that public schools cannot teach creationism, there is a new push to expand the voucher program that allows private schools receiving public funds to teach intelligent design.  “If you want very rigorous evolution instruction, you should be able to choose that,” said Neal McCluskey, an education analyst at the Cato Institute. “But you have to let other people choose something else.”
