Uganda’s President Museveni Signs Controversial Anti-Gay Bill Into Law

At CNN, Faith Karimi and Nick Thompson report, “Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has signed into law a bill that toughens penalties against gay people and makes some homosexual acts crimes punishable by life in prison.” The move was made in the face of vocal opposition from the West, including President Obama warning that the bill would strain relations between the two nations. In an interview with CNN, Museveni said, “If the West doesn’t want to work with us because of homosexuals, then we have enough space here to live by ourselves and do business with other people.”
