Obama to Meet Pope Francis at Vatican for Inequality Summit

Paul Lewis of The Guardian reports, “President Barack Obama and Pope Francis will meet for the first time in March, during an encounter the White House said would be focused on tackling the disturbing growth in inequality.” Obama, who has made addressing inequality a priority of his administration, will take a four-day trip to Europe to meet with various leaders, capped by his meeting at the Vatican. White House spokesman Jay Carney said, “The president looks forward to discussing with Pope Francis their shared commitment to fighting poverty and growing inequality.”
