NM Ruling Will Allow Doctors to Help Patients Die

Susan Montoya Bryan of the Associated Press reports that a New Mexico judge ruled on Monday that competent, terminally ill patients have the right to seek doctors’ help in ending their lives. Although the state Attorney General is considering an appeal, Second Judicial Judge Nan Nash wrote in her ruling, “This court cannot envision a right more fundamental, more private or more integral to the liberty, safety and happiness of a New Mexican than the right of a competent, terminally ill patient to choose aid in dying.”
