Jessica Ahlquist Looks Back – And Ahead – 2 Years After Ahlquist v. Cranston

At Religion News Service, Chris Stedman interviews Jessica Ahlquist two years after a federal judge sided with her and ordered the removal of a prayer banner at her high school in Cranston, Rhode Island. When asked about the backlash and support she received from religious groups, Ahlquist responded, “Many religious groups and people support me because they understand that a secular government protects their right to practice their religion without fear that the government will try to force particular beliefs onto us. Truthfully, I was not actively seeking support from religious groups, but I was pleasantly surprised when they gave it.”
