Federal Judge: Clergy Tax-Free Housing Allowance is Unconstitutional

Sarah Pulliam Bailey of Religion News Service reports on a federal court ruling against the IRS clergy housing exemption. The Freedom from Religion Foundation filed the lawsuit against the exemption, which was initially intended for clergymen who lived in church-owned parsonages. The case is expected to be appealed to the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
