Single Mothers with Family Values

At The New York Times, Molly Worthen writes about the embrace of conservative values among single mothers and the church’s struggle to embrace single motherhood without surrendering traditional marriage. About single mothers, Worthen writes, “Some have been persuaded by evangelicals that they have a stake in defending conservative ideas about gender and family. Others have found their own way to a rejection of the left’s vision of social welfare. Feminism fails to resonate with many of the women who seem most likely to embrace it.”
