In Federal Court, Attorneys Spar Over State’s New Abortion Rules

At The Houston Chronicle, David Saleh Rauf discusses the judicial sparring between advocates over the recently imposed abortion ban in Texas. Attorney General Greg Abbott decided to open a two-day trial regarding the constitutionality of the new restrictions, which ban abortion at 20 weeks and only permit abortions in surgical facilities. “It’s turning back the clock two decades,” testified Dr. Paul Fine, medical director of Planned Parenthood in Houston.
