Showdown Over Science in Texas

At Slate, Zack Kopplin criticizes creationists on the Texas State Board of Education and its textbook review teams. The board, currently in the process of adopting new science textbooks for the next decade, recently held its first meeting for public feedback. Kathy Miller, president of the Texas Freedom Network, said of this process four years ago, “The board crafted a road map that creationists will use to pressure publishers into putting phony arguments attacking established science into textbooks.” Kopplin urges them against making the same mistake by adopting unscientific revisions to biology textbooks.
