Muslim Mother Seeks Justice for the Son She Lost on 9/11

Omar Sacirbey of Religion News Service writes about Talat Hamdani’s struggle to get her son’s name included on the New York City Police Department’s official 9/11 memorial. Her son, Mohammed Salman Hamdani, was a 23-year-old cadet with the NYPD and was initially suspected to be involved in the attacks until his remains were found five months later, near his medical kit. His mother says, “I won’t find peace until this is resolved with justice. He gave the same sacrifice as the other police officers did, why is he not acknowledged as such?”
