High Holidays a Juggling Act of Piety, Politics for Jewish Members of Congress

During the 10-day period between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Jews reflect on their flaws, admit errors and ask for forgiveness, which puts public figures in a peculiar position. “We fast on Yom Kippur,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal. “I think the rest of it is pretty much private.”
