McCain Blasts Fox’s Islamophobia: Would You Have a Problem with an American Saying “Thank God”?
Igor Volsky of ThinkProgress reports on a recent interview between Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and Fox News host Brian Kilmeade. Kilmeade argued against arming Syrian rebels, saying that American weapons could flow to extremists linked to Al-Qaeda. After playing a video showing opposition group members shouting “Allahu Akbar!” as rockets hit, he implied a link between the Arabic phrase and terrorism, saying, “I have a problem helping those people screaming that after a hit.” McCain fired back, “Would you have a problem with an American saying ‘Thank God? Thank God?’ That’s what they’re saying. Come on!”
