Backers, Foes Of Ousted Egypt Leader Battle In Cairo Streets

Tom Finn and Tom Perry of Reuters report that the tension that had been building for weeks in Egypt finally erupted into violence as Pro-Mursi demonstrators marched to the Interior Ministry in Cairo. The wave of police tear gas appeared just as an initiative by Al-Azhar, a leading religious authority, to bring both sides together appeared to be making progress. “There’s no going forward with negotiations, the only way is back. Mursi must be reinstated,” said protestor Karim Ahmed.
