Transgender Religious Movements Grow As More Groups Ordain And Welcome ‘T’ In LGBT

The Huffington Post’s Jaweed Kaleem reports on the growing transgender presence in the faith community. Even as some religious groups begin to welcome, marry, and ordain gays and lesbians, “transgender spirituality is more controversial and less organized,” Kaleem writes. Chris Paige, executive director of Transfaith, says, “The trans experience is still little-understood in the general community and even more so at times in churches and spiritual spaces … Even in congregations that say they accept transgender people, it doesn’t mean they have ever met a trans person.”
