Complaint Accuses U.S. Judge In Texas Of Racial Bias

The New York Times’ Ethan Bronner reports that a “group of civil rights organizations and legal ethicists filed a complaint of misconduct” against federal Judge Edith H. Jones of Houston on Tuesday. The complaint alleged she “showed bias against minority groups and an inappropriate religious belief in the death penalty.” The complaint claims she said in a speech that racial minorities are more prone to crime and “a death sentence was a service to defendants because it allowed them to make peace with God,” Bronner writes.
