Is the Hijab Worth Fighting Over?
A “Room for Debate” forum at The New York Times provides four different perspectives on the issue of the Muslim veil. On April 4, the Ukrainian group Femen created international debate when it declared “Topless Jihadi Debate,” leading to counteraction by a group of Muslim women in support of the hijab. The debate asks, “Is either party dealing with a serious issue? Is the hijab worth fighting over?”
