Mother Jones’ Shameful Attack on the Christian Adoption Movement

Jonathan Merritt of Religion News Service responds to Mother Jones’ recent article “Orphan Fever: The Evangelical Movement’s Adoption Obsession,” which characterizes the growing evangelical adoption movement as a “cryptic attempt to evangelize unwitting children.” Merritt argues the writer unfairly highlights fringe cases of child abuse. According to Merritt, “the only thing Kathryn Joyce gets right is that there is indeed an adoption movement sweeping through Christian churches and communities. Thousands of orphaned children have been given someone to call ‘mommy’ and ‘daddy’ as a result.”
