U.S. Muslims Mobilize to Prevent Boston Backlash

For Religion News Service, David Gibson and Lauren Markoe consider efforts by the Muslim community to prevent backlash following the Boston attacks. Muslims in both the U.S. and abroad immediately condemned the attacks and called for prayer, aiming to quell American discrimination towards the religion. “It’s a familiar race against time for Muslim groups. Almost as soon as the smoke cleared around Copley Square, they knew from long experience that some would immediately point the finger of blame in their direction,” Markoe and Gibson write.
