Vatican Gets Behind Adult Stem Cell Research

Promoting adult stem cell research, the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture is currently hosting a conference with NeoStem, a U.S. based bio-pharmaceutical company, reports Alessandro Speciale at Religion News Service. While the Vatican does not support embryonic stem cell research, which many scientific leaders consider more promising than adult stem cells, Speciale believes that the Church is attempting to shed its “anti-science reputation.” Robin Smith, the CEO of NeoStem, said, “People don’t have to choose between life and science.”
