Muslims Embracing Atheism Often Face a Lonely Journey

Kimberly Winston of Religion News Service writes on the support group, “Muslim-ish,” which was founded by Ibrahim Abdallah to create a “safe space for questioning Islam and all matters of faith.” Ex-Muslims often face divorce, disowning, physical violence, and in some countries, even the death penalty. “Most of these people never saw another ex-Muslim before,” Abdallah said. “These are people who don’t believe anymore and who have no support.”
