Guestview: Negotiating Change in The Islamic Religious Establishment

Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, in a guest column for Reuters, imagines an optimistic future for Egypt and Islam as he steps down as the grand mufti of Egypt. Even though it has only been two years since the Egyptian revolution, Gomaa recounts the major progress Egypt has made towards political, economic, and social stability. Gomaa hopes that these recent accomplishments will continue to develop and Egypt will promote “the message of a peaceful, moderate Islam.”
