Lawyers Question New York Cardinal in Milwaukee Suits

Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, a potential candidate to be the next pope, was recently questioned in a legal deposition about how he handled allegations of sexual abuse, reports Laurie Goodstein of The New York Times. Hundreds of people were allegedly sexually abused by priests in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, which Dolan led prior to his current position as archbishop of New York. “The lawyers want to know when Cardinal Dolan, as archbishop of Milwaukee, learned of allegations against certain priests, and how quickly he made those allegations public,” Goodstein writes.
