Pope Benedict Thanks Public for “Love and Prayers”
At his first public appearance since announcing his resignation, Pope Benedict XVI thanked the crowd for their warm reception and sympathy, reports the BBC. While aware of the historical significance of his actions, the Pope suggested that his declining strength was too much to overcome. He said, “I did this in full liberty for the good of the Church.”
