Chick-fil-A Keeps Growing Despite Uproar

At The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Leon Stafford writes about the growth of Chick-fil-A following the controversial anti-gay comments made last summer by its president Dan Cathy. Despite the controversy, the company’s sales increased by 14 percent in 2012. However, Tim Calkins, a branding expert at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, believes that these numbers do not paint the full picture: “Short term financial results are one indicator of the health of a brand. You only see the real impact on branding over time.”
