St. Sabina Stands by Chicago Priest Rev. Michael Pfleger Amid Second Set of Abuse Allegations

Bob Smietana of Religion News Service reports that St. Sabina, an influential Chicago parish, is condemning allegations of child sexual abuse against its well-known priest, the Rev. Michael Louis Pfleger. The victim alleges that Pfleger abused them more than 30 years ago–allegations that Pfleger denies. He has been placed on temporary leave, as he was in 2021 when he was previously investigated for and cleared of abuse allegations. Kimberly Lymore, an associated minister at the parish, said in Sunday’s service, “God would not have blessed this ministry for over 40 — close to 50 years — if something dark needed to come to light.”
