Iranian Americans Are Demonstrating Across the U.S. in Support of Protesters in Iran

Alaa Elassar of CNN reports that Iranian Americans are protesting across the country to show support for their Iranian counterparts who are facing repression in Iran for speaking out after the death of a 22-year-old woman who died in the custody of the morality police. Mahsa Amini, the woman who died in custody, was arrested for not dressing in accordance with the Iranian government’s religious clothing requirements. Sepideh Sanie, one of the American protesters, said, “As people not living under the oppression of the Islamic Regime, we are obligated to speak up and be the voice of our people.”
