Researchers Warn That Christian Nationalists Are Becoming More Radical and Are Targeting Voting

Michelle Boorstein of The Washington Post reports that a group of scholars briefed members of Congress on Christian nationalism last week. The Congressional Freethought Caucus hosted the virtual event, “God Is On Our Side: White Christian Nationalism and the Capitol Insurrection,” which was not open to the public. The briefing was based on a publication from the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty and the Freedom From Religion Foundation, which outlined both the symbolic imagery of Christian nationalism that permeated the January 6 insurrection itself, as well as the influence of the ideology on efforts to overturn the election.
