U.S. to Declare Rohingya Repression in Myanmar a “Genocide”
Matthew Lee of the Associated Press reports, “The Biden administration intends to declare that Myanmar’s years-long repression of the Rohingya Muslim population is a ‘genocide,’ U.S. officials said Sunday.” Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to make the designation at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum this week. The Myanmar military government has targeted the Rohingya over the past five years, forcing more than 700,000 members of the religious minority to flee the country.
