His Reasons for Opposing Trump Were Biblical. Now a Top Christian Editor Is Out.

Ben Smith of The New York Times reports that Marvin Olasky, editor of the Christian media organization World, has resigned. Olasky has faced pressure from World’s board in recent years, including over his criticism of former President Trump. At the helm since 1994, Olasky dubbed his editorial style “biblical objectivity,” which he defines as an approach that requires speaking out on issues about which the Bible gives guidance. Smith writes that Olasky’s departure is “another example of the American news media sinking deeper into polarization.” He adds, “It also marks the end of a remarkable era at a publication that has shaken evangelical churches and related institutions with its deeply reported articles.”
