Novel Texas Abortion Case Is Back at the Supreme Court

Nina Totenberg of NPR reports, “Abortion rights are front and center at the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday, but not the way most people expected. The focus will not be on abortion rights, per se, but on the controversial Texas law designed to prevent court challenges.” The statute in question delegates the enforcement powers of the state to private citizens who can sue abortion providers if they perform an abortion after six weeks of pregnancy. Abortions in the state have come to an abrupt halt because of the law, pending a ruling from the Court.
