Fired After Endorsing Vaccines, Evangelical Insider Takes a Leadership Role

Ruth Graham of The New York Times reports that Daniel Darling, a former spokesperson for the National Religious Broadcasters who was fired for his public support of vaccines, will be the new director of the Land Center for Cultural Engagement at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The center, which has been inactive since 2019, serves as a forum for pressing political and cultural issues within the evangelical community. Darling said, “I think you can have both courage and civility at the same time. This incessant need to fight for and tear people down for sport is really unhealthy.”
