Facebook Services Are Used to Spread Religious Hatred in India, Internal Documents Show

Newley Purnell and Jeff Horwitz of The Wall Street Journal report that internal documents from Facebook acknowledge the company’s role in fomenting religious violence and discrimination in India. The documents are from internal research done after concerns arose about its role in sectarian conflict in the region, where Hindu nationalist groups have spread anti-Muslim content. “Inflammatory content” spiked 300 percent during parts of 2019, when religious protests broke out in India.
