Orthodox Church’s Top Patriarch to Visit U.S., Meet with Biden

Peter Smith of the Associated Press reports, “The spiritual leader of the world’s 200 million Eastern Orthodox Christians brings an agenda spanning religious, political and environmental issues to a 12-day U.S. visit beginning Saturday that includes a meeting with President Joe Biden and various ceremonial and interfaith gatherings.” The visit of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople will include efforts to mend the rift between the Catholic and Orthodox communities, as well as events focused on the revitalization of Orthodox Christianity in the United States.
