The New Chief Chaplain at Harvard? An Atheist.

Emma Goldberg of The New York Times reports that Greg Epstein, a Humanist chaplain and atheist, was unanimously elected as the next president of Harvard University’s organization of chaplains. He will organize events among the many chaplains and their respective faith communities on campus while also providing spiritual counseling to students. Epstein said, “There is a rising group of people who no longer identify with any religious tradition but still experience a real need for conversation and support around what it means to be a good human and live an ethical life.”
