Inspired by Nuns, Evangelicals Hop on the Bus

Religion News Service’s Emily McFarlan Miller writes about faith-based, get-out-the-vote bus tours, which are being used by both progressive and conservative organizations this election cycle. Many of the tours were inspired by “The Nuns on the Bus,” a group of Catholic nuns who began touring during the 2012 presidential campaign. The socially conservative Family Research Council is sponsoring a bus tour this year. McFarlan Miller also writes about Vote Common Good, a tour that set out last week: “It aims to encourage evangelical Christians – who traditionally have been associated with the Republican Party, and perhaps never more so than now, given white evangelical support for Trump – to ‘vote their values rather than their longtime party.'”
