From Mormon Missionary to LGBTQ Advocate (And International Rock Star)

NPR’s Michael Martin interviews Dan Reynolds, the lead singer for the rock band Imagine Dragons who is Mormon and an activist for LGBTQ rights. Reynolds is the subject of a new documentary, Believer, which explores the LDS Church’s treatment of LGBTQ members. Reynolds tells Martin, “Now that I’ve done the research and seen the suicide rate in Utah being the number one reason of death among teenagers, and LGBT youth are eight times more likely to take their lives if they’re not accepted in their home or community, it’s kind of been bubbling up for a long time for me.”
