To Keep Churches Safe, Government Gets Involved

Religion News Service’s G. Jeffrey MacDonald writes, “U.S. attorneys’ offices in Colorado, North Carolina and Massachusetts have been convening security workshops for houses of worship in the wake of the Nov. 5 shooting that left more than two dozen worshippers dead in Sutherland Springs, Texas.” MacDonald reports that in 2015 and 2016, religious figures and institutions were the target of 38 percent of all terrorist attacks, making them the most common target for terrorism in the United States.
