Pope Francis Offers Prayers for the Dead and Injured in Las Vegas Shooting

America’s Gerard O’Connell reports on Pope Francis’s response to the mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, which left at least 50 people dead and 200 injured. O’Connell writes that the Cardinal Secretary of State, Pietro Parolin, said that the Pope “offers the promise of his prayers for the injured and for all who have died, entrusting them to the merciful love of Almighty God.” O’Connell adds, “There was no immediate word on the motive for the attack. The U.S. Homeland Security Department said there was no ‘specific credible threat’ involving other public venues in the U.S.”
