Brazilians Funneled as Slaves by US Church, Ex-Members Say

The Associated Press’s Mitch Weiss, Holbrook Mohr, and Peter Prengaman report that World of Faith Fellowship allegedly lured young members of their satellite churches in Brazil to their main compound in North Carolina and forced them to work. Andre Oliveira, who fled the church last year, said that he was brought to the mother church in rural Spindale, North Carolina, from Brazil to work in abusive conditions for little to no pay. Weiss, Mohr, and Prengaman add, “The revelations of forced labor are the latest in an ongoing AP investigation exposing years of abuse at Word of Faith Fellowship.”
