Israel Plans West Bank Settlement Expansion Amid Policy Shifts in Washington

The Washington Post’s William Booth reports, “Israel approved the construction of 2,500 housing units in Jewish settlements in the West Bank on Tuesday, just two days after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with President Trump.” The Obama administration had criticized the new communities, which are located in disputed territory, as “an obstacle to peace.” Booth writes, “The move appears to be a clear sign that the Israelis no longer fear American criticism of settlement construction, which is condemned by most of the world.”
