Trump’s EPA Pick Blends Conservative Christianity With Anti-Environmental Activism

The Daily Beast’s Jay Michaelson profiles Scott Pruitt, President Trump’s pick for EPA Director. Michaelson writes of Pruitt, “He is a deacon at First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and on the board of trustees of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, part of the conservative Southern Baptist denomination, which claims over 15 million members.” Unlike “creation care Christians,” Michaelson points out that Pruitt has been criticized for his ambiguous position on climate change and ties to the fossil fuel industry.
