Muslim College Chaplains Extend a Hand Across Religious Divides

The New York Times’ Samuel G. Freedman reports on Muslim chaplains’ work at universities across the country in a time of increasing Islamophobia. There are more than 40 Muslim chaplains in the United States. Fardosa Hassan, a Muslim chaplain at Augsburg College, says, “My role is to help students negotiate this multifaith, diverse environment. I’m going to give them a tool for when they go out of this institution, so they know how to be respectful of others.”
