White Evangelicals Voted Overwhelmingly for Donald Trump, Exit Polls Show

The Washington Post’s Sarah Pulliam Bailey reports that exit polls reveal Donald Trump won 81 percent of white evangelical voters. Trump’s evangelical support played a large role in his shocking victory, helping him win swing states such as Florida, where evangelicals make up around 20 percent of the vote. Bailey writes, “Trump’s candidacy has caused a huge divide among evangelical leaders, but evangelical voters coalesced around him as a presidential candidate.”
