Evangelicals and Conservative Catholics, Who Have Voted Together for Decades, Are Splitting Apart

At The Washington Post, Mark J. Rozell, a professor at George Mason University, writes about the split between the conservative Catholic and evangelical votes this election cycle. Trump is losing Catholic voters by 23 points while retaining strong support from white evangelicals. Rozell writes, “This contrast doesn’t just matter for Trump’s candidacy. It reveals a startling political splintering of conservative Catholics and evangelicals, who have tracked side by side for decades.”
